New chief operating officer joins HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake
Clear Lake, Texas — We are excited to announce the selection of JP Bartonico as the new Chief Operating Officer at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake — effective Monday, May 19.
Bartonico is a seasoned healthcare executive with over 16 years of experience at HCA Healthcare hospitals, specializing in hospital operations, strategic planning, and business development.
Before joining HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, Bartonico served as the chief operating officer at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, a 209-bed level II trauma hospital in the greater Austin area. During his tenure, he was instrumental in opening a 34-bed intermediate care unit and two operating rooms, growing procedural volume in the cardiovascular, orthopedics, and robotics service lines and acquiring new equipment and technology to enhance the services for patients.
Prior to this role, Bartonico served as the chief operating officer at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant, a 373-bed acute care hospital in northwest San Antonio. In this role, he led the development of several hospital service lines including robotics, colorectal, vascular and cardiology and oversaw more than $50 million in capital investments for hospital construction and renovation. Bartonico also served as the hospital’s interim chief executive officer from August to October 2021.
During his career, Bartonico also spent time working as an associate administrator at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio, where he helped coordinate the production and development of a $253-million expansion plan.
Bartonico earned a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Emory University. He serves as an active member of the South-Central Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and actively participates in the annual MS 150 bike ride and fundraiser.
Bartonico and his wife, Michelle, are the proud parents of two boys — Logan, 5, and Mason, 3. When he is not working, he enjoys listening to good music, especially at the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival.
