Blood cancer program launches at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake
Clear Lake, Texas — HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is proud to officially launch its new Blood Cancer and Cell Therapies Program, providing advanced diagnosis, care and treatment for patients with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
Under the direction of Dr. Ram Kamble, a nationally renowned hematology/oncology specialist, the program offers high-quality, comprehensive blood cancer care for families south of the Texas Medical Center.
“This is a special population of patients who need us,” said Todd Caliva, chief executive officer of HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake. “Adding blood cancer treatment to our already robust oncology program has been in the works for many years, but we needed the right leader — and now we have him.”
Caliva added that Dr. Kamble’s 30-year career at some of the world’s leading institutions will provide patients with expertise and ingenuity that is unparalleled.
Dr. Kamble most recently spent 20 years working in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. He said he is excited to build a program that offers an alternative to inner-city healthcare life, which comes with traffic and high-priced parking stress.
“Not only that, but patients are extremely well served when they receive treatment close to their loved ones,” Dr. Kamble said. “Family members and friends want to support those they love on the cancer journey. However, they may have to keep working or taking care of their own families. If cancer care is around the corner, family and friends can more easily attend appointments and provide support. Therefore, patient care improves.”
Dr. Kamble’s team includes advanced practice nurses, transplant coordinators, social workers, dietitians, physical and occupational therapists, and other specialists who work together to provide comprehensive, personalized care.
This program is a collaboration between HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, Texas Oncology and the Sarah Cannon Cancer Network, bringing together national expertise with local access to specialized care.
