PEARLAND, Texas – In recognition of National Volunteer Month, HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland is inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals by welcoming local Girl Scouts for a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at careers in medicine.
As part of HCA Healthcare’s “We Show Up for Our Communities” days of service initiative, hospital colleagues are volunteering their time to mentor Pearland and Houston area Girl Scouts through an interactive hospital experience. The event featured guided tours, educational discussions and opportunities for participants to learn about a variety of healthcare roles in a real-world setting.
“National Volunteer Month is a meaningful opportunity for our colleagues to give back in ways that can have a lasting impact,” said Elias Armendariz, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland. “By opening our doors to Girl Scouts of the surrounding area, we hope to spark curiosity, share knowledge and inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals who will one day care for our communities.”
Through this immersive experience, Girl Scouts gained insight into what it takes to work in a hospital and explore potential career paths in healthcare—from clinical roles to leadership positions—while engaging directly with experienced professionals.
This initiative reflects HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland’s ongoing commitment to supporting the health and well-being of the communities it serves—not only through patient care, but also by investing in education, mentorship and future workforce development.
