Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification from Det Norske Veritas received by North Cypress
Cypress, Texas — HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress announces that it has received certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, reflecting the highest level of competence for treatment of serious stroke events.
The DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification is based on standards set forth by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association and affirms that the medical center addresses the full spectrum of stroke care — diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and education — and establishes clear metrics to evaluate outcomes.
“Given the life threatening or life altering impact of a stroke, it’s critical that we offer broad capabilities for treatment paired with expert clinicians and efficient processes,” said Jim Brown, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress. “This accreditation as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV is validation that we have successfully combined these objectives to provide the best possible care to our community.”
“Achieving certification shows commitment to excellence,” says Kelly Proctor, president of DNV Healthcare USA Inc. “And it helps demonstrate to your community that you are performing at the highest level.”
Comprehensive stroke centers are typically the largest and best-equipped hospitals and a given geographical area that can treat any kind of stroke or stroke complication. In a growing number of states, stroke center certification determines to which facility a patient should be taken for the most appropriate, reimbursable care.
