Ramona's amazement for midwifery began as a young child growing up in Wisconsin and listening to her grandmother's stories of her deliveries as a lay midwife in rural Mississippi in the late 20's and 30's. This amazement led her to pursue a nursing degree at City College in Spanish Harlem, New York; finishing at Prairie View A&M, graduating cum laude in 1997.
