Growth and expansion
We are expanding our services and care through capital improvements and strong patient volume growth.
- In 2024, our labor and delivery team celebrated a record-breaking 4,284 births, including 72 sets of twins, three sets of triplets, and one set of quadruplets. We are projected to surpass this record in 2025 with an estimated 4,500 births.
- A $7 million, 14,000-square-foot early childhood education center is under construction to foster work-life balance for employees.

We have invested $103 million to complete an expansion of our facility, which includes a main tower vertical expansion to add a 16-bed intensive care unit, a 14-bed progressive care unit, a 30-bed medical/surgical/telemetry unit, and a 30-bed shell space for future growth.
The expansion also includes a labor and delivery horizontal expansion to add 10 labor and delivery rooms and one C-section operating room.
The expansion is expected to be finished late 2026.

Welcoming new leaders
Beginning April 1, 2025, John Wolf will serve as the Chief Operating Officer at HCA Houston Mainland.
Wolf brings a wealth of experience in healthcare leadership, strategic operations, and clinical quality improvement, making him a tremendously valuable addition to our team. With 20 years of leadership in complex healthcare systems, he is a seasoned healthcare executive who excels at building high-performance teams, fostering positive provider relations, and cultivating a shared organizational culture.
About our chief executive officer
Todd Caliva, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Todd Caliva is the CEO of HCA Houston Clear Lake and HCA Houston Mainland. He is regarded in the industry as a consummate healthcare professional. He has more than 30 years of experience, including a decade at the multi-facility level, and he has been with HCA Houston Healthcare since 1997.
In prior roles, Caliva served as CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare West and chief operating officer of The Woman's Hospital of Texas. His strategic vision, leadership, compassion and relationship-building skills allowed those facilities to flourish in its staff recruitment, patient and visitor experience and market presence.
Caliva believes a commitment to quality healthcare begins with employees. If employees enjoy what they do and are committed to our values, then our patients will get the quality care and service they deserve.
Caliva is co-chair of the SouthEast Texas Regional Advisory Council Cardiac Care Committee, an organization that is committed to improving the overall care for heart attack patients across the region. He also serves on the board of directors for Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership.
He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Houston.
