Houston, Texas — HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division is proud to announce the following six hospitals received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade for Fall 2023 from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit upholding the standard of patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers:

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.

“At HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division, we remain dedicated to providing exceptional, patient-centered care during every single patient interaction," said Dr. Andrew Moore, chief medical officer of HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. "It is gratifying to see our hospitals recognized, particularly in the wake of a challenging period in healthcare. I applaud our remarkable medical professionals and care teams who consistently adhere to best practices, enabling us to consistently deliver top-tier, safe care to our patients.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division facilities made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
