HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division collects medications during DEA Take Back Day

1,606 pounds of medications were collected during HCA Healthcare's sixth annual DEA "Take Back Day."

Houston, TX - HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division announced that it collected 1,606 pounds of medications during HCA Healthcare’s sixth annual “DEA Take Back Day” on Oct. 26, 2023. The following hospitals within HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division participated in the DEA Take Back Day:

  • The Woman’s Hospital of Texas- Collected 146.5 pounds
  • HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast- Collected 384 pounds
  • HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball- Collected 259.4 pounds
  • HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood – Collected 225 pounds
  • HCA Houston ER 24/7 North Channel – Collected 60 pounds
  • HCA Houston ER 2/7 Spring – Collected 98.1 pounds
  • Corpus Christi Medical Center Doctors Regional- Collected 433 pounds

Joining forces with local law enforcement, The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball, HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood, HCA Houston ER 24/7—North Channel, HCA Houston ER 24/7 —Spring and Corpus Christi Medical Center Doctors Regional invited community members to safely and anonymously dispose of their unused and expired medications for proper disposal. 

DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.
